This project is located in the transportation center of Yunlin(雲林), Dounan Township(斗南鎮), where the climate is mild and the transportation within the territory is convenient; Dounan(斗南) is one of Yunlin’s important agricultural towns. The areas around Dounan(斗南) railway station have the texture features of old towns, as well as many architectural spaces left from the Japanese ruled period to the early national government time, giving Dounan(斗南) a special sense of the times. In contrast to the old urban texture and historical space, itis hoped that the residents of Yunlin can live together with their own history and memory. The design and construction restores the blank space in the history of Dounan(斗南), creates new history and memories, and makes this series of public spaces full of enthusiasm and rich with life. The goal is to improve the quality of life and urban spaces of Dounan(斗南) residents by activating the public spaces and historical spaces in Dounan Township(斗南鎮).

Several main activity zones can be observed in Dounan Township(斗南鎮): Zhongshan Road(中山路), the busiest road in front of the station, the food market hiding in the alley north of the bus station, and a variety of snack vendors along Zhongzheng Road. Of course, the township also has Dounan(斗南) Railway Station, Taliwu(他里霧) Park on the north, and the double-railway green corridor on the south. These small scenes are woven into Dounan(斗南)'s daily life. However, the seemingly lively Dounan(斗南) is a city without pedestrians. In addition to the lack of shade, it has no place for pedestrians to stop and have a rest. Taking a walk in the city, people can see and pass many unused and poorly planned public spaces.

Zone 1consists of re-constructing various parks and idle open spaces scattered throughout Dounan(斗南) Township, including the park reservation land No. 2, Nantai(南台) Circle, bus station, and Jiushe(舊社) Park (from north to south).

Zone 2consists of the linear park of Dounan(斗南) Station, including the improvement and activation of the square in front of Dounan(斗南) Station, Warehouse No. 7-11, the square in front of the warehouse and the surrounding area, as well as the auxiliary space around the station.

The linear park of Dounan(斗南) Station, from the space under the bridge all the way south to the double-railway green corridor, is becoming a complete "daily space in Dounan(斗南)." Appropriate places and facilities can be found for various activities, from static to dynamic, for public participation here. There are also rehabilitation and health plazas for the elderly, all of which are clustered along this 700-meter axis. Regarding the parking spaces needed to support these areas, a parking lot is available at the end of the warehouse in the south so that users can have a quick access.

These spaces will be popular because of the diversity of activity spaces, being close to daily life, and the convenience in traffic for the public, who can arrive through three convenient transportation ways: driving, riding bicycle from the ring trial or double-railway green corridor, and taking the train, to create a 1-hour life circle and therefore increase Dounan(斗南)’s tourism industry and economic activity.
