According to the urban texture of Hsinchu City(新竹市), the scope of this plan is defined by the urban area surrounded by Jingguo Road(經國路), Ziyou Road(自由路), Xida Road(西大路), Dongda Road(東大路), Guangfu Road(光復路), and Xuefu Road(學府路), the connection of the front and back of Hsinchu Station, and the surrounding main streets. The plan’s primary purpose is to improve the accessibility of arcades, schools, and sidewalks within the urban area, repair breakpoints, smooth passages, and increase pedestrian space, in order to improve the urban traffic through urban planning and traffic management. To construct a more friendly, intelligent, and aesthetic city, this plan cooperates with the "Heart of Town" Plan of the Construction and Planning Agency of the Ministry of the Interior to make overall improvements to the function of the city, activate key nodes, and make the whole living space of Hsinchu City(新竹市) more diversified and suitable for human-oriented living through the five main construction pillars of "improvement of parking problem," "creation of recreational sports environment," " construction of cultural life circle," "improvement of road quality," and "integration of public service points."
With the core of Hsinchu(新竹) old city as the planning base and the six old city nodes of the green path, Longenzun(隆恩圳), moat, Chenghuang Temple(城隍廟), East Gate Town, Hsinchu Park(新竹公園) City Hall Square, and Tingfuzun(汀甫圳), as well asblue-green axis belts as the key areas for improvement, Hsinchu(新竹) old city is expected to create a unique urban aesthetic and to continue to improve pedestrian space highlights in Hsinchu City(新竹市).
The highlighted characteristics are based on the abundance of historic sites, the beauty of the mountains, seas, and rivers, the deep humanistic culture, the new science and technology culture, and the leisure life in Hsinchu City(新竹市). Using the original streets of this city and green everywhere, with the proposal plan has the core of "Pedestrian City" to develop the areas before and after the station with regional characteristics to the three-ring structure of Pedestrian City, which are dependent and connect the urban north and south areas.
